Compilation release and drummer situation

Heyy,

Sirona Records has released an underground collection called A Voyage Through the Underground – The Best Free Download Music Compilation and it features the title track from our 2008 demo, The Circle. The compilation has 31 tracks divided to 3 parts and it’s completely free to download (well, duh)!

(Also remember to check out Sirona’s cool Napalm Death You Suffer compilation!)

In other news, we are STILL looking for a drummer, and now even more so since Juuso (who was still our “session guy who-still-contributed-a-lot-of-stuff”) for the debut album) decided to quit drumming altogether.. So now that makes at least two ex-members of the band who have quit playing almost totally, so I guess this just goes to prove that we’re too heavy for most people to handle!

So the drummer slot for Swath is still free, and anyone interested should contact teemu at swathmetal dot com ASAP – those pesky drum tracks aren’t going to record themselves! Now’s also a great time to take part in the arranging and (de)composing process, since we’re still ironing out a few kinks and writing new stuff for the album!

So pick up that phone or email client and get contacting us!

Until next time!

A new guitarist! Soundi review!

Good news, everyone!

We’ve finally managed to find a new guitarist! Yes, that’s right, Tomi Saalanto is the name of the man that will face the task of doing some six-string fiddlery for us in the future, and we’re looking forward to having a fully functional band unit together again! Well, at least for writing and rehearsals – still looking for that giggin’ drummer.

Soundi has also reviewed The Carrion King in their demo section of the magazine (December 2011 issue). They even included a picture – small, but a picture in a real magazine nonetheless – now there’s an indicator that we’re clearly going places! ..Or not, but anyway, the review text was pretty damn good and spot-on as well. Read it here (in Finnish).

And I know I promised to tell about the record a while back, but since we’re still writing songs and now in the process of integrating Tomi into our ranks, we’ll come up with some small tales about the album later!

Address change

Hi,

just a small update: the address on the back cover of The Carrion King (and The Circle, for that matter) is no longer valid! The new contact address is

Swath c/o Teemu Kokkonen
Vallikallionkuja 5 A 10
02650 Espoo
Finland

All this info can be found from the Contact page as well.

Seaya!

Another review, still looking for a drummer and a guitarist

Just to let you know, Imperiumi has recently reviewed The Carrion King as well (4/5 stars).

In other news, we are still officially looking for a drummer and a guitarist to fill the gaps in our lineup. If interested, contact us at teemu at swathmetal dot com.

We also have begun to write music for our first full-length album already (with our old drummer Juuso behind the drumsticks and skins), but more news on that a bit later – let’s just say that now would be an excellent time to join the band!

Added some reviews

Just went ahead and added a few reviews to the music page, including some oldies from printed magazines and the first The Carrion King review from Kaaoszine. Looks like at least somebody enjoyed the record!

Be seeing you…

“I will not buy this record, it is scratched.”

Phew!

Finally, we have some working copies of The Carrion King CDs in our hands. The material proved to be too heavy for the first cd duplication company, their exact words after sending us 150 fucked up copies: “We think you should press the cds somewhere else, since this project has proven to be too much work and is too expensive. We do not want to work on this project any more”.

Hence, we turned to the good old trustworthy Z-Trading company who finished the job professionally, swiftly and without errors.

In any case, the CDs are now officially out and in buyable condition. Orders can be made through teemu at swathmetal dot com as usual, or by initiating personal contact (some of us will be hanging around in eg. Tuska festival next weekend with some copies in our pockets). The price tag is 3 euros when bought from hand to hand, and when mailed, 4 euros.

Be seeing you!

The Carrion King CDs delayed

Howdy,

in a long string of small but annoying failures concerning our latest demo, there’s been a problem with the physical ‘The Carrion King’ CDs and they are therefore delayed at least for a while (hopefully not for another year, we’d be running out of band members in that time). Sorry about that. Updates coming as soon as there’s something worthwhile to tell.

Meanwhile, you can still go ahead and listen/download the new music from eg. Soundcloud or mikseri.net.

Be seeing you!

The Carrion King is loose!

This guy says hi:

In other words, we’re quite proud to announce that our elusive 3-song demo recording, The Carrion King, is finally out!

..or, at least the free downloads / listening thingamabobs are now available all over the web:

http://www.soundcloud.com/swath
http://www.reverbnation.com/swath
http://www.mikseri.net/swath
http://www.maihinnousu.net/swath
http://www.hitlantis.com/swath
http://www.myspace.com/swathmetal

If you’d fancy a physical copy (we have some available probably on early July at the latest), drop a line to teemu@swathmetal.com – the cover art (by the one and only Pekka Keskinen at http://www.killer-beach.com), while being free to download in that link, is totally worth it! Price should be around 3-4 euros, I’d reckon.

So now you should all go listen to The Carrion King and decide for yourselves whether or not it was worth the over a year long hassle!

Cheerio!

Release drawing near

Hi all,

so the demo is finally finished – cover art and everything – and all it took was 1 year and 2 months, two band members leaving the band and a lot of blood, sweath and beers from the band members and everyone else involved in the process. Huge thanks!

We’ll be releasing the music for free downloading early next week (and taking some preorders if anyone’s interested) so check this space on Monday or Tuesday!

Meanwhile, you can wonder what the hell this is all about:

Be seeing you..

…some sunny day

We’re sad to announce another departure from the band. This time Niko has decided to step out of the line of duty and he’ll be concentrating mostly on enjoying all the other things life has to offer besides playing thrash metal.

We’d like to take the opportunity to thank both mr. Backman and mr. Poikulainen for the time and effort they have put into the band and wish them the best in their undoubtedly miserable future without Swath. Good luck, mates!

The search for a drummer hasn’t been fruitful yet either, so all you motivated guitarists and drummers out there, feel free (or feel obligated?) to drop a line to teemu at swathmetal dot com if you’d fancy to try out some of our stuff! The hiatus mode is coming to an end and we’re about to jump back in action in one way or another pretty soon..

Aaaand in other news, I think this particular fellow has some foreign objects in his eye. How peculiar.
